❡ Ponferrada, the home of the first Knights Templar and a transit point for pilgrims from all over Europe on their way to Santiago de Compostela. The Templar Castle and the ancient wall hide inside them the great deeds of kings, knights, nobles and peasants in what is today the geographical centre of the territory of El Bierzo.

MORNING

star icon Leaving León

We will leave the city of León for another short section of the Camino de Santiago. On this occasion we will travel to Molinaseca with our private vehicle and our guide and, from there, we will walk the 8 kilometres that separate us from Ponferrada.

At the end of the walk, we will go to one of the most emblematic wineries of the D.O. Bierzo. Considered to be one of the best oenologists in the world, he will personally take us on an exclusive tour of the winery and we will have a full tasting of different wines with between 90 and 100 Parker points.

MIDDAY

star icon Lunch in Ponferrada

After the tasting and visit to the winery we will go to the restaurant where the lunch of the day will take place. A special tasting menu awaits us, prepared by one of the most renowned chefs in El Bierzo, who stands out for his creations classified as haute cuisine d’auteur.

The restaurant has been recognised by the Michelin Guide as a “quality dish” and has been awarded a Sol Repsol thanks to an innovative proposal that blends tradition and the avant-garde.

AFTERNOON

star icon City tour and free time

The city of Ponferrada with its imposing Castle of the Templars awaits us. We will dedicate the afternoon to a guided tour in which we will discover the best kept secrets of its historical, natural and cultural heritage, entering, of course, its Castle, built in the 12th century and which has a building of more than 8,000 square metres in an excellent state of conservation.

The rest of the afternoon will be free to continue visiting recommended places or simply to rest. The traditional gastronomy of the area offers a wide variety of local products and an exquisite selection of D.O. wines that can be a magnificent option for a good aperitif or a delicious dinner.
