Ponte de Lima
Medieval jewellery
❡ Ponte de Lima considered the oldest town in Portugal and founded in 1125, is today a town that radiates charm and history in equal measure. Undoubtedly, its greatest attraction is a spectacular 5th-century Roman bridge that crosses the river Lima, and which forms part of the route of the Way of St. James.

Program of the day

MORNING
Departure from Porto
We will leave Porto going with our guide in a private vehicle to the village of Vitorino dos Piaes, where we will start a walk of approximately 12 kilometers to reach Ponte de Lima, thus making our first section of the Way of St. James of the trip.
Between villages, forest tracks, and wooded areas, we set off towards the pretty village of Ponte de Lima, where we cross the bridge to reach the town. This section of the stage has some gentle ascents, but, in general, it is a light and easy route.

MIDDAY
Free time for lunch
After arriving in Ponte de Lima and enjoying a stroll at your own pace through the historic center, you will have free time for lunch at a restaurant of your choice. You can opt for a traditional Portuguese dish such as the famous Caldo Verde (green broth), Arroz de Cabidela (Cabidela rice), or the infallible Bacalhau.
Besides the Romanesque-medieval bridge, Ponte de Lima also has other architectural gems such as the Matriz Church, the Church of Santo António da Torre Velha or the Torre da Cadeia Velha, which is one of the two towers that remain in the city, and which was part of the old defensive wall of the town, are other interesting places to visit. We can complete the tour by strolling through the center where we can enjoy the Arco da Porta Nova, the Pazo do Marques, or the Largo de Camoes Square.

AFTERNOON
Transfer to the accommodation and spa access
After enjoying the charm of Ponte de Lima, we will move about 5 kilometers from the town to reach our oasis for the night: Carmo’s Boutique Hotel 5* where we will be lucky enough to spend the night surrounded by nature, attention to detail, and unparalleled comfort.
Members of the renowned Small Luxury Hotels of the World brand, this small hotel offers exquisite sensations and intimacy. We will be able to access its spa where we can relax and enjoy a comforting session in its pools and jacuzzis. We also have the option of hiring a treatment exclusive to the hotel, such as the Cleopatra Ritual Bath with 100% pure goat’s milk.

NIGHT
Dinner at the hotel and rest
To end such an exciting day, what’s a better way than a good dinner and a good night’s sleep? We will have a traditional Portuguese dinner with a menu consisting of a starter, main course, and dessert. We will also be able to taste the best selection of Portuguese wines. The cozy Carmo’s Restaurant, with its garden view, offers a truly unique dining experience. Here, every meal is a journey through the rich flavors of Portugal, with carefully selected ingredients and dishes prepared the same day.
After dinner, we can rest in the spacious and exquisitely decorated rooms to recharge our batteries and continue enjoying the adventure.
