❡ Ribeira Sacra, treasures in stone and millenary terraces define a place touched by the sky. This territory is home to the largest concentration of medieval churches and monasteries in Europe, while at the same time it offers us a heroic landscape of sloping hillsides full of vineyards that test the vertigo of those who move among its vines.

MORNING

To begin today’s journey, we will travel with our guide to the heart of the Ribeira Sacra, specifically to the municipality of Doade. Our destination, nestled between rolling mountains and vineyards, is the emblematic Adega Algueira. This family winery, which was founded in 1980, has won numerous international awards and recognition.

We will have the opportunity to visit their facilities, learn about viticulture and the different winemaking processes, as well as to taste their best wines, from the lightest and simplest to the most solid and complex.

MIDDAY

As it could not be otherwise, we will take advantage of our day in such a stunning place to have lunch in the winery itself, specifically in its cosy restaurant O Castelo, where we will delight ourselves with the true traditional Galician food.

The menu, composed of fresh, seasonal produce from local farmers and vegetables from the winery’s own garden, will be accompanied by delicious Algueira wines, for a complete experience of flavours and tradition.

AFTERNOON

star icon Boat trip through the Sil Canyon

Luckily, we can still extend our time in the enigmatic and historic Ribeira Sacra a little longer, as next we will settle into a boat to sail down the peaceful Sil River while admiring, from the depths of the gorge, the full magnitude of the mountains, whose walls reach almost 500 metres in height in some places.

This route will be done on board the boat ”Brandán”, which is actually a lifeboat that, after getting lost and separated from the merchant ship it was on, ended up being converted into a tourist river boat.
