\u2761 Oia, religious heritage in Baixo Mi\u00f1o. Undoubtedly, the monument for which Oia is best known is the Monastery of Santa Mar\u00eda de Oya, a religious complex that has not ceased to evolve since the 12th century and has undergone various transformations up to the group of buildings that we can see today. Its relevance lies in the fact that it is one of the few abbeys that remain by the sea in Galicia, as those that existed at the time were moved inland, as they would thus be less exposed to the attacks of pirates and corsairs that ravaged the coasts of Galicia for centuries.<\/p>\n <\/div>\n

We have a busy day ahead of us today. So is important to have a good breakfast before embarking on today’s adventure. The first thing to do is to take our private vehicle and our guide to Caminha, where we will take a boat to cross the border into Spanish territory.<\/p>\n

Caminha, located on the banks of the river Minho, is a border town that forms part of the Portuguese Coastal Route. The pilgrims once reaching this point, must cross the river by boat or ferry to reach the town of A Guarda, in Galicia. As the pilgrims that we are, we will take the boat that will change us from one country to another.<\/p>\n
